| In 1933, W.C. Zickgraf founded
Zickgraf Hardwood Company, a sawmill that he, along with 18 employees, built
in Franklin, N.C. Mr. Zickgraf's 40 years of experience in the lumber industry
gave him faith that the slackening depression would ultimately bring an
increase in demand for lumber, and he was right.
W.C. Zickgraf's son, Grant Zickgraf, became owner and president of Zickgraf in 1953. Grant built the first of what was to become 16 dry kilns. The addition of the dry kiln facilities made it possible to include a hardwood flooring and paneling mill, and Zickgraf directed its focus to manufacturing hardwood flooring and solid-wood paneling. Approaching his retirement, Grant sold the company to Mr. F.P. Bodenheimer
Jr. in 1991. Bodenheimer has been operating as CEO of Zickgraf Enterprises
ever since. With Bodenheimer at the helm, Zickgraf has focused on increasing
sales and building strong national and international distribution channels
since the mid 90's. Zickgraf is the largest employer in the Franklin, N.C. community with an average of 320 employees ranging from production workers to specialized quality control officers. Today, Zickgraf is one of the industry leaders in unfinished and pre-finished solid hardwood flooring, offering superior quality in an unmatched selection of species and widths. |
